Recap from the July 2026 Vision Zero Orlando Open House!

Vision Zero Open House held at UCF Downtown Campus on Wednesday, July 8, 2026 Thank you to everyone who attended the Vision Zero Orlando Open House on Wednesday, July 8 at the UCF Downtown Campus. About 40 community members joined us to learn about the FORWARD Orlando project and share their experiences and priorities for safer travel throughout the city.

Attendees provided feedback on the updated High Injury Network and participated in a visioning exercise for the citywide Pedestrian Facilities Plan. Across the five guiding principles for the Pedestrian Facilities Plan, participants expressed a desire for:

  • Walkable and Livable communities: More pedestrian-friendly destinations, public spaces, and neighborhood connections
  • Safe and connected pedestrian mobility: Safer crossings, lower vehicle speeds, and continuous walking routes
  • Reliable and accessible infrastructure: Wider, well-maintained sidewalks, accessible curb ramps, and improved lighting
  • Sustainable and environmentally friendly: More shade, trees, and comfortable walking environments
  • Communication and responsibility: Clear safety information, routine maintenance, and shared responsibility among all roadway users

These insights will help shape the Pedestrian Facilities Plan’s recommendations and guide future investments in safer, more accessible, and better-connected walking infrastructure throughout Orlando.
