Welcome! This page is your hub for engaging with Vision Zero Orlando, the City’s commitment to eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries by 2040.
Through the FORWARD Orlando initiative, a key part of Vision Zero Orlando, we are advancing projects and strategies that make our streets safer, more walkable, and more connected for everyone who lives, works, and travels in the City Beautiful.
What is Vision Zero?
Vision Zero is the commitment that the only acceptable number of traffic-related deaths and serious injuries is ZERO.
The City of Orlando committed to Vision Zero through a 2017 resolution, establishing the goal to eliminate traffic fatalities and serious injuries by 2040. This work is grounded in data-driven decision-making and meaningful community engagement.
Vision Zero Approach
What is FORWARD Orlando?
FORWARD Orlando is part of the City’s Vision Zero program and represents how we are putting this commitment into action. It brings together key initiatives that advance safety on our streets, including:
 | | |
Updating the Vision Zero Action Plan | Creating the City’s first Pedestrian Facilities Plan | Implementing 28 Quick Build Demonstration Projects located near schools, parks, and neighborhood centers |
Why This Matters?
Traffic deaths and serious injuries are preventable, yet they continue to impact families and communities across Orlando. Improving street safety is essential to achieving the Vision Zero goal.
Through the Vision Zero Action Plan update, the Pedestrian Facilities Plan, and Quick Build projects, Orlando is taking a coordinated approach: identifying safety risks, closing infrastructure gaps, and delivering improvements more quickly.
Together, these efforts help create a transportation system where everyone, whether walking, biking, taking transit, or driving, can move safely and confidently.
